Vilma leads by 20,000 votes in Batangas gubt'l race - Comelec
Batangas gubernatorial candidate Vilma Santos led by at least 20,000 votes over incumbent Gov. Armand Sanchez, after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) finished canvassing 50 percent of election returns on Wednesday, GMA News' Saksi reported. Saksi said that tally results from the Comelec's board of canvassers showed that Santos gained 113,281 votes, while Sanchez earned 89,465 votes - or a difference of 23,816 votes in favor of the incumbent Lipa City mayor. Even in the third district of Batangas, which is Sanchez's turf, Santos still gained a margin of at least 400 votes. The same report said Santos was leading in the first, second and fourth provincial districts. Meanwhile, Santos' vice mayoral candidate, Edwin Ermita, gained a slim margin over rival Mark Leviste. Saksi said Ermita got 79,191 votes, while Leviste had 78,961 votes. Another vice mayoral bet, actor Christopher De Leon was in far third place with 35, 132 votes. - GMANews.TV
