4-year-old Camarines Sur girl killed after falling off railroad ‘skate’
A four-year-old girl died last Thursday after falling off a railroad "skate," a makeshift vehicle that uses the railroad tracks, in Sipocot town, Camarines Sur, GMA News TV program "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon" reported.
GMA Bicol's Elmer Caseles identified the fatality as Bianca Santiago, who was then heading home with her mother Sheryl.
"May nakasakay at driver yung skates. Na-out balance yung magnanay kaya nahulog sa sasakyan. Siguro tumama yung ulo ng bata doon sa matigas na bagay," said Sipocot police officer-in-charge Senior Inspector Louie Manuel dela Peña.
Mother and child were rushed to hospital but Bianca expired. Her mother was injured and is recovering.
The Philippine National Railways' Naga office made it clear that skates were prohibited from using the rails. "Pwedeng ipatigil yan by coordinating sa mga pulis. Talagang ipinagbabawal yan," said PNR Naga OIC division manager Jose Florence. — Joel Locsin/DVM, GMA News
