Namfrel says polls failed in 4 Lanao Sur towns

Another special elections could be held in four towns of Lanao del Sur if the Commission on Elections would agree to the observation of a poll watchdog that the May 26 polls failed in these areas. Eric Alvia, secretary general of National Citizens Movement for Free Elections, however declined to name the towns because Namfrel is still completing data on these areas furnished by the organization’s field workers. He said Namfrel will bring their report and recommendation to the Comelec as soon the organization is finished with the report. Asked why failure of elections should be declared in the four areas, Alvia said, “lahat ng violation nandoon na, vote buying, presence of armed groups, riot, coaching ng mga poll watchers sa mga voters inside the precincts, board of election inspector are not present, lahat ng violation," he said Tuesday. - Fidel Jimenez, GMANews.TV
