Widow, who's also a member of PNP-SAF, stresses call for justice
A member of the Philippine National Police's elite Special Action Force continues to mourn and wait for justice, more than 40 days after her husband was killed in a clash in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
PO2 Gae Ann Nacionales said this as friends and colleagues marked on Sunday the 40th day of the SAF 44's deaths in La Union province, GMA Dagupan reported Monday.
Nacionales met her husband, PO3 Omar Nacionales, in 2010. Omar, who joined the SAF in 2008, was among the 44 SAF troopers killed in the Jan. 25 clash.
"Nagmo-mourn pa rin kahit tapos na ang 40 days, kasi mahirap naman talagang tanggapin. May tiwala naman ako sa mga kasamang pulis na ginagawa nila ang kanilang trabaho. Nag-aantay lang kami sa hustisya. Naroon pa rin ang mourning namin," Mrs. Nacionales said.
On Sunday, members of the PNP, Bureau of Fire Protection and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology offered a Mass for the SAF 44 at the Saint William Cathedral in San Fernando City in La Union.
La Union police public information office head Chief Inspector Artemio Infante said this is "to show our sympathy and prayer" for the fallen 44, "for their eternal rest."
At the event, the participants released white balloons into the air and prayed for peace so no one need to die anymore. —Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
