Two public elementary school teachers were killed after their motorcycle collided with a bus in Del Gallego town in Camarines Sur province Wednesday night.

Both victims were going home after the graduation rites at Palaspas Elementary School, GMA News correspondent Peewee Bacuño reported.

Killed were Maurine Buendia, 24; and Melissa Montemayor, 30. Buendia's husband Michael, who was driving the motorcycle, was rushed to a hospital.

An initial investigation showed the victims were traveling on Andaya (Quirino) Highway in Del Gallego town when they collided with the bus.

The impact damaged the motorcycle, and scattered the teachers' belongings.

One of the victims was dragged by the bus while the other was not recognizable as her face was disfigured.

On the other hand, the bus' windshield was shattered and the right part of its bumper was damaged.

Bus driver Arturo Cilot said the motorcycle suddenly appeared in front of the bus, and that he could not risk swerving the bus for his passengers' safety.

He faces possible charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide.
