Multicab catches fire near Davao City gasoline station

Davao City firefighters on Saturday successfully put out a fire that engulfed a passenger multicab near a gasoline station on Ponciano Street, GMA Davao reported.

Driver Walter Denela said he had stopped near the gas station to fix some problems with the vehicle's electrical wiring.

"Parang na-grounded siya kasi nangamoy na parang nasunog siya,” Denela said. “Kaya tinanggal ko muna ang wire na naipit, yung hose ng gasolina kasi may tumutulo na. Pag-start ko kasi aalis na ako, yun na, nagkasunog na."

"Dapat i-double check talaga ang mga sasakyan lalo na ang koneksyon sa battery,” advised fire investigator SFO1 Jose Puerto. “Maganda nga ang quality ng wire pero naipit pala, hindi napansin. Tapos nagkadiprensya, mabilis yung mag-ground."
