13-hour power outage looms in Boracay, 3 Western Visayas provinces
A power outage lasting as long as 13 hours may affect parts of world-famous Boracay Island resort along with three provinces in Western Visayas on April 19.
In Antique, areas that may be affected include Pandan and Libertad, GMA News stringer Jun Aguirre reported Friday.
These areas are serviced by the Aklan Electric Cooperative (AKELCO), whose information officer Rence Oczon said the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines had initially scheduled the power interruption for April 12.
Oczon said the NGCP moved the power interruption to April 19, upon the Capiz local government's request. Capiz is now holding its "Capiztahan" festival.
Also, he said the brownout will start at 6 a.m., and last until 5 p.m.
The scheduled power interruption will facilitate the repair of power lines and posts, in time for Boracay's hosting of activities related to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in May. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
