Over-inflated truck tire explodes killing Pangasinan vulcanizing shop owner

A vulcanizing shop owner was killed in his San Jacinto town, Pangasinan shop last weekend after a truck tire he was inflating blew up.

GMA News TV's "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon” identified the fatality as Zaldy Calimlim, was rushed to hospital but was declared dead on arrival.



The explosion also damaged Calimlim's shop.

"Nagvu-vulcanize, nung pagkalagay ng hangin sa goma, pumunta doon, namasyal. Nung balikan niya, tatanggalin na sana yung hose ng hangin. Tinuntungan niya yung goma, sumabog," said witness Pepe Perez.

"Siyempre ang lakas ng pressure. Yung beam siguro ang tumama kay Calimlim, kaya humampas sa fence," explained San Jacinto police deputy head Inspector Benigno Aquino Jr.

Calimlim's relatives declined to comment, but they were convinced his death was an accident. — Joel Locsin/DVM, GMA News
