36 Gingoog City residents fall ill from spoiled pork dish
Some 36 Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental residents fell ill from food poisoning last Friday after they partook of a pork dish.
The victims had stomach pains, loose bowel movements, and they vomited after eating the humba dish, GMA Northern Mindanao's Joane Tabique reported.
The victims, among them children, were brought to the Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital for treatment.
All 36 patients were then discharged from the hospital on Sunday.
According to investigators, the four kilos of humba was brought from a fiesta in Butuan City. The food likely spoiled enroute.
Meanwhile, the governor's office said that the victims would have to pay for their treatment. "Sa gamot, hindi na sila nahirapan at sa babayaran sa hospital dahil doon napunta sa Misamis Oriental program na zero billing," said Ronald Duanzon, a consultant to the governor's office. — Joel Locsin/DVM, GMA News
