A power outage hit parts of Ilagan City in Isabela province Sunday morning, as Typhoon Dodong (Noul) continued to move closer to the northern Luzon area.

The outage hit shortly before 8 a.m. when a power transformer exploded, radio dzBB's James Agustin reported.

Ilagan has been experiencing rain and winds since early Sunday.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council readied a generator to cope with the situation.

Meanwhile, rain intensified in four coastal areas in the province, particularly in Dinapigue, Divilacan, Maconacon and Palanan. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
