Until September, Filipino Catholics in the Lingayen-Dagupan archdiocese in northern Luzon will be offering prayers against calamities and corruption.
The order for the Oratio Imperata came from Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas, who also heads the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines.
Villegas ordered the prayer recited before the Post-Communion Prayer in all Masses from May 15 - Memorial of San Isidro - until September 29, Feast of the Archangels.
The invocations seek God's protection from:
strong typhoons
relentless rains
destructive earthquakes
drought and pests
deadly floods and storm surges
red tides and fish kills
deadly light(n)ing
violence and wars
corruption and sin
criminality and terrorism
selfishness and indifference

The prayer also invoked the protection of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag.
A local translation of the prayer is available on the archdiocese's website. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
