EMB watching Cebu rivers, creeks for water pollution

Water pollution levels in some rivers in Cebu province have increased, prompting closer monitoring by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB).

The EMB has also asked local officials and residents to help keep them clean, GMA Cebu reported Thursday.

The EMB will be keeping a close eye on the Butuanon River in Mandaue City, the Guindarohan River in Minglanilla, Guadalupe River in Cebu City, and some creeks in Liloan.

The EMB has already found that water in the Butuanon River is dirty and polluted.

It said this could be due to the dumping of garbage into the water from nearby commercial plants.

He said they have sought greater coordination with local authorities to keep the rivers clean. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
