A tornado tore through Bayambang town in Pangasinan over the weekend, affected 87 families in 12 barangays, and forced some of them to temporarily stay in pig pens. No casualties were reported, according to GMA Dagupan on Tuesday.
Of the 87 families affected, 32 were from Barangay Buayaen, where the Castillo family was forced to stay in a pig pen following last Saturday afternoon's incident.
"Sanay kami sa bahay. Konting tiis lang... kung may tutulong para makapagsimula kami," said Rosemarie Castillo.
Ramon Castillo said the tornado ripped away the roof of his house. "Nakita ko maitim na hangin, tinangay na bubong ko, takbo kami."
Some residents stayed with relatives while others made do with smaller accommodations.
"Nakikitira sa kaanak, yung iba gumawa ng maliit na kwarto pansamantala," said Lerma Padagas of the Bayambang town social welfare and development office.
Padagas also said her office is now arranging financial assistance for the affected families.
GMA's Kapuso Foundation in Dagupan has prepared relief items for the affected families as part of its relief operations in the area. — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
