Iloilo woman strangled by live-in partner laid to rest

A woman who was fatally strangled and buried behind the house of her live-in partner in Iloilo earlier this month was laid to rest on Wednesday.

Friends and kin were emotional as they attended the burial of Rebecca dela Cruz at the Iloilo Memorial Park, GMA Iloilo's Charlene Belvis reported.

Dela Cruz's remains were found last week, buried in a makeshift grave behind the house of live-in partner Ericke Mickell Paginado.

Paginado admitted killing dela Cruz after an argument, where he wanted them to reunite but dela Cruz refused. He turned himself in to authorities.

Neither he nor his relatives attended the burial. Dela Cruz's family said that while they are still angry at Paginado, they are not angry with his kin.

Dela Cruz's mother Angeline and father Greg thanked those who attended the burial. The dela Cruz family has custody of the former couple's three-year-old child. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
