Teen dies due to alleged hazing in Bulacan

A 14-year-old boy from Sta. Maria, Bulacan died Wednesday after participating in an alleged hazing incident involving a gang.

The victim's mother, Linda dela Cruz, said her son Christian's death was mainly caused by internal injuries, specifically to the liver and the spleen, a report on GMA News TV's Balitanghali said Friday.

The victim suffered 30 seconds of beating—referred to by the True Brown Style (TBS) Gang as "30 Seconds Massacre," wherein any member can deal blows to the neophyte.

He was not beat up with a paddle or any heavy objects, the report said. However, the mother claimed her son was slammed against a wall.

The victim was still able to make it home after the hazing, and complained that he was experiencing difficulty in breathing, the mother said.

Upon arrival at the Bulacan Medical Center, they were informed by a doctor that the victim's condition was already critical.

A case has already been filed against the suspects for violation of the Anti-Hazing Law resulting to homicide.

The main suspect, a 26-year-old who is the supposed leader of the gang, is currently held behind bars.

However, the suspect claimed that as the leader, he merely oversaw the initiation.

There are four other suspects, three of whom are under the custody of the Social Welfare Development Office.

The final suspect, a 15-year-old, is still being located, the report said. — Jessica Bartolome/KG/ELR, GMA News
