Barangay councilman shot dead in Jolo on Monday

A barangay councilor in Sulu province was gunned down before noon in Jolo town Monday.

Garir Mandangan, a councilor of Barangay Gata-Gata in Panglima Estino town, died instantly from two gunshot wounds, GMA News correspondent Peewee Bacuño reported.

The incident occurred in front of Santanina Rasul Complex in Barangay Walled City in Jolo at about 10:40 a.m.

His assailant fled aboard an XRM-type motorcycle toward the capitol complex.

Police are verifying information the shooting stemmed from a personal grudge. -Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
