Suspected drug dealer gunned down in Davao City sting operation

 

A suspected drug dealer was gunned down after allegedly engaging police in a shootout during a sting operation in Davao City Wednesday night.

 

Nelson Galo was killed in the buy-bust operation at Barangay 76-A in Bucana, Davao City, GMA Davao's Helen Quiñanola reported Thursday.

 

Police said Galo tried to shoot his way out when he found out he was dealing with an undercover police operative.

 

"Anim na buwan na yang nire-report ng mga tao sa amin... Pabalik-balik lang siya sa pagtutulak ng droga," said Senior Inspector Ronald Lao, head of the San Pedro police.

 

Officials in the barangay had also received reports linking Galo to the illegal drug trade.

 

But Galo's mother Priscilla insisted her son had no gun with him at the time.

 

"Wala talaga yan siyang dalang baril, narinig na lang namin na nanlaban daw siya, eh paano naman siya lalaban kung wala namang baril?" she said.

 

Recovered from Galo were sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth P70,000, and a gun he allegedly used in the supposed shootout. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
