PHL’s 100 millionth baby turns one, feted in Cebu

The Philippines' 100 millionth baby—or at least one of them—was feted on his first birthday in Cebu on Monday.
Baby Paul James Gregory Intes received a gift pack at a symbolic party, state-run Philippine Information Agency reported.

Monday's party was the Population Commission Region 7's way of marking the first birthday of the country's symbolic 100 millionth baby.
PIA said six babies in Central Visayas had been chosen by the POPCOM to symbolize a "hope for better quality of life"
On July 27 last year, the Philippine population formally hit 100 million.
In Manila, a baby girl was one of the symbolic 100 millionth Filipino, born at the Fabella Hospital in Manila at 12:35 a.m.
The baby weighed 2.8 kilos and was born to one Dailin Cabigayan, 27, a resident of Manila's Sampaloc district.
At a press conference at the Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Sunday, baby Chonalyn Sentino and her mother were presented to the media.
She was one of 100 infants born in state hospitals all over the archipelago who received the symbolic designation of "100,000,000th baby." -Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
