25 Pampanga resto patrons fall ill with suspected food poisoning

Some 25 customers of an Angeles, Pampanga buffet restaurant were taken to hospital from August 1 to 5 after they complained of diarrhea and dizziness supposedly after dining at the establishment, GMA News TV's “State of the Nation with Jessica Soho” reported on Friday.

Initial testing found that the victims' stool samples positive for amoeba. Local health authorities said that it was possible the customers fell ill from the water served at the restaurant.

Health inspectors will also look into conditions and food preparation methods at the restaurant. The restaurant's employees will also be tested after it was discovered that 40 of them lacked health clearances.

The buffet restaurant has been temporarily shut down.

Meanwhile, the restaurant's owner promised to cooperate with health authorities and contribute to the victims' medical care. — Andrei Medina/DVM, GMA News
