Iloilo wedding guests, Batangas students fall ill due to alleged food poisoning
Two separate cases of alleged food poisoning were reported in Iloilo and Batangas last Saturday, GMA News TV's "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho" reported.
In Estancia, Iloilo, 105 wedding guests experienced symptoms of food poisoning while attending the event. Some five of the guests were still confined at the Balasan District Hospital as of posting time.
However, Iloilo health authorities have yet to determine the main cause of the illnesses. Results of laboratory tests will be out in a week or two.
Meanwhile, 20 Batangas State University students allegedly suffered from food poisoning during an acquaintance party.
They were sent to four different hospitals due to acute gastroenteritis.
The victims said they ordered chicken, spaghetti, pizza, and rice for lunch. Four hours after eating, they felt sick.
"Today po and the remaining days of the week, we will be doing an investigation of this almost 4,000 students,” City Health Officer Dr. Rossana Barrion said.
“Kukuha po kami sa kanila ng data. Mag-iinterview po kami sa kanila. Kailangan po nating ma-determine. Kasi bukod sa 20 na napunta sa ospital, ilan pa po ang talagang naapektuhan at ano pa po ang kinain nila bukod po doon sa sinerve sa kanila." — Trisha Macas/DVM, GMA News
