1 dead, 6 injured in Sorsogon bus accident

(Updated 9:28 a.m.) One person died and six people were injured Sunday after the bus they were riding on slammed into two coconut trees in Irosin, Sorsogon, a report on Unang Balita said Monday.

The fatality was identified as Allan Jaraba, who came from Salvacion town. The six people injured were brought to the hospital for medical attention.

Initial report showed the bus fell into a ricefield after hitting the trees. The broken windshield and other parts of the bus were seen scattered on the road.

The Mega Bus was traversing Maharlika Highway on its way to Manila from Bohol when the accident happened.

The barangay captain of Monbon said the bus driver admitted he fell asleep while behind the wheel.
