(Update) 2 soldiers, 2 others die in Sorsogon clash

(Updated 11:55 a.m.) Suspected New People's Army (NPA) rebels on Sunday evening killed two government soldiers in an ambush in Juban town, Sorsogon, while two civilians died in the crossfire. The ambush occurred at about 11 p.m. at Sitio Palaypay in Jagusara village, said Lieutenant Rolly Basibas, spokesman of the 2nd Infantry Batallion. Seven other government troopers were injured during the incident. Basibas said Army soldiers were on their way back from combat in Magallanes town on board a civilian jeep when the rebels struck. The two slain civilians were on board a motorcycle which trailed the jeep. The two were identified as brothers Erwin and Remar Dioquiño. The deceased soldiers, meanwhile, were Corporal Ronald Aurellana and Private First Class Jerry Badaguas. Wounded were 2nd Lieutenant Jay Dumaog; Corporal Diego Alagad; Privates First Class Joeven Cereño and Roly Bermido; and Privates Randy Aguila and Michael Palencia.
