Two nabbed in slay of 10-year-old in Tanay

Two men who were allegedly involved in the killing of a 10-year-old girl whose body was found near Tanay River in Rizal over the weekend were arrested, a report from GMA's “24 Oras” said Wednesday.

The report said a witness pointed to the two suspects as being responsible for the killing of Cassandra Valencia who was also believed to have been raped by her assailants.

“Ang bata po ay hawak ng dalawa sa magkabilang kamay at hinihila papunta doon sa madamong lugar,” Brgy. Tandang Kutyo Tanod Corazon Reyes said quoting the witness.

The witness account pins the suspects who were only identified as alias Toto and alias Dondon as the people last seen with the victim who was bathing in a river.

But the wife of one of the suspects denied the allegations saying that her husband was at work during the incident. Both suspects are currently held at the detention cell of the Tanay police.

The local government of Tanay meanwhile said they are ready to present the P50,000 reward to the witness if proven that the two suspects were indeed responsible for killing the victim.

“Ongoing ang kanilang pag iimbistiga sa crime scene at maging dito sa ating person of interest ng mga sinasabing maaring ma involve sa kasong ito,” Mayor Lito Tanjuatco said. -Andrei Medina/NB, GMA News
