Coordination with Iglesia ni Cristo helped ease traffic – NLEX exec

Smooth coordination with the Iglesia ni Cristo leadership helped minimize the disruption of traffic during the religious group's event at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan where at least 100,000 members were estimated to have attended, a report on GMA's “24 Oras” said Saturday.

In the report, North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) spokesman Kiko Dagohoy said that they agreed to implement strict rules particularly on prohibiting parking along NLEX.

“As much as possible sana magamit po yung mga talagang legitimate na parking area. May mga traffic personnel tayo na nandoon sa area at i-aassist po yung mga pumapasok na sasakyan,” he said.

The report said that two lanes were dedicated to the Iglesia members so they could have easy access to Ciudad de Victoria, the entry point of the event.

Aside from this, zipper lanes were also established in the southbound lane along with counterflow mechanisms to prevent other motorists from getting stuck in traffic.

Iglesia faithful were spotted in the event area as early as 11 a.m. The event, led by the church's Executive Minister Eduardo Manalo began around 7 p.m. — Andrei Medina/JDS, GMA News
