The local government of San Luis in Pampanga has placed the town under a state of calamity due to massive flooding.
A report on GMA News' Unang Balita said that 11 of the town's 17 barangays were submerged in floodwaters.
The report added that some of the affected barangays do not usually get flooded during the typhoon season.
At least 6,000 families were evacuated to safer areas of the town.
The local government has provided relief supplies to the affected families.
The flooding happened after the Pampanga River overflowed due to heavy rains spawned by tropical cyclone Lando.
Lando, which entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility as a typhoon, weakened into a tropical depression after crossing Luzon.
The cyclone slammed into Aurora province early Sunday.
As of 6 p.m. Tuesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has counted more than 500,000 displaced people in Luzon provinces affected by the cyclone.
Majority of the affected residents were displaced by floods. —ALG, GMA News
