Farmers rush to dry palay before Typhoon Marilyn hits Isabela
Farmers in Isabela province rushed to dry their harvested palay before Typhoon Marilyn (international name In-fa) brings heavy rains to the region, a report on Unang Balita on Monday said.
Because of the dark cloudy skies and rainshowers, farmers began their work early to put the palay in sacks, the report said.
Marilyn entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility Sunday afternoon but no storm signals have been raised so far.
The typhoon weakened and slowed slightly on Monday morning, and was 915 kms east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes or 1,175 kms east of Baler, Aurora at 4 a.m., according to weather service PAGASA's Monday morning forecast.
Marilyn was moving west-northwest at 20 kph, with maximum winds of 160 kph near the center and gusts of up to 195 kph. —KG, GMA News
