Palace condoles with kin of former Iloilo governor Tupas
Malacañang on Tuesday extended its condolences to the family of former Iloilo governor Niel Tupas Sr. who died due to a lingering illness at the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City.
Tupas was a member of the ruling Liberal Party (LP) and was a close ally of President Benigno Aquino III.
“We extend our sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family of the late Governor Niel Tupas Sr. His record of public service is distinctive: as Governor, Representative and Mayor in Iloilo,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr. said.
Before getting elected as governor of Iloilo from 2001 to 2010, Tupas Sr. was a member of the House of Representatives from 1987 to 1998. he also served as mayor of Barotac Viejo.
“His loss is mourned by his provincemates and the Filipino people who value his dedication as a public servant,” Coloma added. -NB, GMA News
