Political adviser killed in Abra ambush

A political adviser to a candidate running for Congress was shot and killed in La Paz, Abra.

A GMA News TV Live report on Saturday identified the victim as Noel Belena.

The report said Belena was on his way home on board a motorcycle when he was shot waylaid by an unidentified gunman.

Belena was rushed to a hospital, but died later on.

Police investigators said that according to his relatives, Belena has not received any death threats prior to the attack.

Probers have yet to determine if the attack was election related.

The report said Belena was a political adviser to a Congress candidate, but it did not name the politician. —Andrei Medina/ALG, GMA News
