Fire ravages Boracay on Christmas Eve; damage pegged at P10M

A fire ravaged Station 3 in Boracay on Thursday morning, leaving 100 families homeless on Christmas Eve.

A report on GMA News' 24 Oras early Thursday evening, the fire took place at Sitio Ambulong in Barangay Manoc Manoc. The fire burned down the establishments in the area, most of which were boarding houses.

The fire took 4 hours to extinguish, the report added.

The damaged property, which includes 40 houses and establishments, was estimated to reach P10 million.

As a result of the fire, there is no electricity in the area as the barangay's supply suffered a shortage due to the incident.

The Bureau of Fire Protection is currently investigating the cause of the fire, the report added.

Last June, a fire hit a four-hectare public market in the same area. The fire started at The Talipapa Bukid Public Market.

Some houses and establishments were also affected, displacing a total of 294 residents— Jessica Bartolome/RSJ, GMA News
