Autopsy of 9-year-old showed stray bullet hit pancreas, kidney, major arteries
Nine-year-old stray bullet victim Lorena Cruz of Norzagaray, Bulacan died after a bullet hit her pancreas, kidney, and some major arteries, a report on Unang Balita on Wednesday said.
Albert Candido, one of those who conducted the autopsy, told GMA News' Bam Alegre that through the procedure, they were able to confirm the earlier statement of doctors of the East Avenue Medical Center that Cruz died due to injuries from a bullet.
The autopsy was not performed earlier since the family of the victim lacked the funds for the procedure.
The remains of Cruz were brought to Norzagaray after the autopsy for the wake.
Cruz was playing near Ipo Dam on Dec. 24 when she was hit by a stray bullet.
She was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center but died on Dec. 25.
Cruz is the first fatality from stray bullets this holiday season. —KG, GMA News
