Tornado rips Zambales town, Abra man drowns


A 35-year-old Abra resident drowned while 29 families in Zambales lost their homes to a tornado in the wake of heavy rains brought by storm "Chedeng." The National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) said Wednesday night that rescue workers recovered the body of Leonardo Sagudang, 35, of Ampaloc proper in Luba town in Abra at noon Wednesday. Sketchy initial reports showed Sagudang's body was found along the Abra River at Llagan in Manabo, Abra. In Zambales, 29 families were rendered homeless after a tornado hit San Miguel village in San Antonio town in Zambales province at about 3 p.m. At least 12 houses were damaged. Of the 29 affected families, 17 were staying at the local gymnasium and day care center. - GMANews.TV
