Four minors identified as among those killed in Tagaytay car crash
Four of the six victims killed in a car crash in Tagaytay City on Sunday have been identified, a report on GMA's Balitanghali by Steve Dailisan on Monday said.
Three of the victims were most recently identified as Jaime Gubaton, 16, a student in Kawit, Cavite; John Paul Vena, 15, of Bahay Tubig, Imus, Cavite; and John Russel Garcia, 15.
Gubaton was identified by his mother Corazon Garcia. Vena was identified by his aunt Tessie Esperanza, while Garcia was identified by his mother Ruth Garcia.
Earlier, one of the victims was identified as Rodalyn Bautista, 17, of Imus, Cavite.
Tagaytay City chief of police Supt. Ferdinand Quirante said they are still waiting for the relatives of two other unidentified victims whose bodies were brought to a funeral parlor.
Authorities have yet to determine who was driving the 2015 Red Toyota Vios when it crashed into a barrier and then onto a tree.
The car burst into flames upon impact.
Residents were not able to put out the fire in time to rescue the victims.
Authorities are still continuing their investigation and are awaiting the autopsy results.
They could not say yet if the accident was due to engine or mechanical failure.
A witness, however, said the car stopped at a convenience store at the rotonda then went eastward. It drove away fast then strayed from the lane before the crash. —KG, GMA News
