Magnitude-5.0 quake strikes off Cagayan

A magnitude-5.0 quake struck off Claveria, Cagayan on Friday morning.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake struck 79 kilometers northeast of Claveria at 1:29 a.m.

The quake, which was tectonic in origin, struck at a depth of 89 kilometers.

It was felt at Intensity 2 in Laoag City and Claveria town.

Phivolcs said it was not expecting damage and aftershocks from the quake. —ALG, GMA News
