Red Cross sends volunteers to assist in Batangas gas facility fire
The Philippine Red Cross on Sunday morning sent volunteers to assist in the gas facility fire in Calaca, Batangas.
The PRC said that before 10 a.m., it has sent two ambulances with 10 crews each, two water tankers and 2 fire trucks to the Phoenix Petroterminals & Industrial Park in Barangay Salong.
A locator within the industrial park, which has four capsule tanks filled with 7,000 cubic meters of liquefied petroleum gas was still on fire as of this posting.
The fire was first reported at 4 p.m. Saturday.
The PRC said it has set also set up a first aid station at the industrial park.
Two employees at the industrial park were rushed to two separate hospitals due to suffocation and chemical inhalation.
The provincial disaster risk reduction and management office (PDRRMO) of Batangas said that a total of 115 families living near the industrial park have been evacuated.
Lito Castro of the PDRRMO said a total of 43 firetrucks have responded to help contain the fire. —ALG, GMA News
