An Italian owner of a pizza parlor who was kidnapped in Dipolog City late last year has been freed by his kidnappers, according to a police report.

Rolando Del Torchio was "recovered" by police, coast guard and military personnel at the Jolo port onboard a motorboat en route to Zamboanga City on Friday afternoon.

Del Torchio, who was kidnapped on October 7, 2015, at his pizza parlor in Barangay Miputak, was in poor health and was brought to a military facility for a checkup, the police report said.

"The recovering team decided to bring KV (kidnap victim) to the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) Trauma Center where he will be taken care of by a military doctor due to poor health," it said.

Earlier reports said Torchio, a former missionary, was in his early 50s.

The police report did not provide any other details.

Security officials have yet to bare the group behind the kidnapping. —KBK, GMA News
