Police killed seven suspected members of a crime syndicate in an alleged shootout in Pampanga province on Monday morning.

Chief Superintendent Aaron Aquino, director of the Central Luzon regional police, said the seven suspects were members of the Jimboy Santos crime group based in Magalang town.

He said the group is involved in car theft, kidnapping, robbery-hold up and highway robbery.

Aquino said the suspects were on board two vehicles, which avoided a police checkpoint in Barangay Pulung Cacutud in Angeles City at around 10:30 a.m.

Members of the regional police office's Highway Patrol Group and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chased and killed the suspects in separate shootouts.

Two of the fatalities on board a Black Mitsubishi Montero with plate number PQC 877 were killed in Barangay Pulung Cacutud and the other five suspects on board a Mitsubishi Adventure were killed in Barangay San Jose, Magalang town.

The police have not named the suspects.

One .45 pistol has been recovered from the Mitsubishi Montero. The areas were being processed by police forensic teams. —ALG, GMA News
