The Office of the Ombudsman ordered the three-month suspension without pay of Zamboanga Del Norte Governor Roberto Uy for illegally dismissing six probationary provincial government employees when he took office in 2013.
The Ombudsman added that Uy also failed to reinstate the six employees despite a decision by the Civil Service Commission declaring that the terminations were invalid and lacked sufficient grounds.
Uy did not heed the CSC's order “to restore the complainants to their previous positions without delay and to pay back their salaries.”
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales directed the Department of Interior and Local Government to implement the suspension order.
Uy was re-elected as governor of Zamboanga Del Norte during the May 9, 2016 elections, defeating rival Rolando Yebes. — DVM, GMA News
