2 killed, 2 others hospitalized after eating tikong fish in Camarines Sur
A fish dish proved fatal for two of four siblings hours after sharing lunch in Calabanga town in Camarines Sur.
Unang Balita reported Wednesday also said that the two who survived are recuperating in a hospital.
GMA News stringer Arnel Eclarin said the dish that the siblings shared was from tikong, a type of poisonous fish.
An initial investigation showed the fish was cooked into adobo, a popular Filipino dish, and served for lunch.
When evening came, all the four siblings started vomiting and experiencing stomachache shortly after they began feeling dizzy.
Fisheries authorities have long been imposing a ban on catching, selling, and eating tikong fish because it is poisonous.
But some fishermen still try to catch and eat the fish because edible species have been over-fished while tikong is in abundance in the area, the report added. — LBG, GMA News
