A young girl was killed and hundreds of families fled their homes in Datu Unsay town in Maguindanao as security forces clashed with members of rouge Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighter early Wednesday morning.
GMA News stringer Ferdinandh Cabrera reported on Unang Balita that a stray bullet hit and killed a 15-year-old girl while hundreds of residents in Datu Unsay's Barangay Meta scrambled for their safety when bursts of gunfire rang out early in the morning.
Grounds shook as the military launched an aerial assault on its target in an attempt to snare BIFF leader identified as Kumander Bungos.
Soldiers mounted the attack on the suspected lair of the rogue commander in retaliation for the BIFF's assault on a training camp in Shariff Aguak town where trainees of the 19th Infantry Battalion were stationed.
Two soldiers were wounded in Wednesday's skirmish.
The military is still confirming reports that three BIFF men were killed in the early morning clash.
Displaced residents are squeezing in for space at the town's bus terminal, the report said. — LBG, GMA News
