1 of top 10 CamSur drug suspects killed in buy-bust operation
One of the supposed top 10 drug personalities in Camarines Sur was killed in an alleged shootout during a buy-bust operation on Wednesday, a television report said.
Citing intial police information, GMA News stringer Michael Biando told Unang Balita on Thursday that Jesus Goronal alias Jessie, 50, was killed after attempting to shoot it out with police operatives at about 8:30 p.m.
An initial police report indicated that the incident occurred in an abandoned house in Brangay Santa Justina in Buhi town.
Authorities said the house, which has been abandoned for over 10 years, had been turned into a drug den by the suspect.
Buhi town police told GMA News that during the buy-bust operation targeting alias Jessie, the anti-drug operatives caught the suspect and a companion in a pot session.
Upon seeing the cops, Jessie drew his gun and tried to shoot several times, but the gun failed to discharge.
The cops fired back at Jessie, who later died after sustaining three gunshot wounds.
Recovered from Jessie's pockets were sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, money, and a loaded hand gun.
Meanwhile, Jessie's wife, Rose, insisted her husband was only a user ang not a big-time pusher.
Also, she said his husband did not own a gun, and that his cellular phone is missing. — LBG, GMA News
