Magnitude-5.0 quake hits Agusan Norte
A magnitude-5.0 earthquake struck in Agusan del Norte early Saturday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake struck 11 kilometers northeast of Nasipit town at 2:29 a.m.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, struck at a depth of 26 kilometers.
It was felt at strongest at Intensity 5 in Nasipit and Carmen town in Agusan del Norte and in Butuan City.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4 in Cabadbaran City; Mainit, Placer, Las Nieves, Remedios Romualdez and Magallanes towns in Agusan del Norte.
It was also felt in Surigao City and Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental; Mambajao in Camiguin; Sison, Bacuag and Taganaan in Agusan del Norte at Intensity 3.
Meanwhile, it was felt at Intensity 2 in Cagayan de Oro City and Cebu City.
Phivolcs has recorded at least two aftershocks from the quake.
The agency said it was not expecting damage from the quake. —ALG, GMA News
