Dismissal order served vs. CamNorte Governor Tallado
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) formally served the dismissal order against Camarines Norte Gov. Edgardo Tallado for charges of grave misconduct and oppression, a statement from the agency on Wednesday said.
Sec. Mike Sueno ordered the DILG regional office to serve the order issued by the Office of the Ombudsman as charged by the provincial government employees of Camarines Norte in April 18.
"After our Regional Office in Legazpi City got hold of the decision issued by the Ombudsman's Office, we immediately prepared the necessary documentation and served the dismissal order," Sueno said.
Sueno added Tallado peacefully received the orders from the DILG personnel.
"As reported by DILG Region 5 Director Eloisa Pastor, she personally handed the decision rendered by the Ombudsman against Governor Tallado. The serving of the dismissal procedure came very peacefully. There was no resistance from Governor Tallado or his supporters, although of course, legal remedies are sought this early," he said.
Pastor and Bulan, Sorsogon Mayor Helen de Castro served the dismissal order against Tallado.
Meanwhile, Sueno said Tallado will be replaced by Jonah Pimentel, while Michael Canlas will the vice governor.
Tallado was found guilty of grave misconduct and oppression and/or abuse of authority following his decision to invalidate the appointments of 48 provincial government employees, including appointments made by former Gov. Jesus Typoco.
The petitioners first filed the complaint before the Civil Service Commission on November 30, 2010 but was later dismissed, forcing them to bring the case to the Court of Appeals. —Joseph Tristan Roxas/KBK, GMA News
