Cop tied, burned to death in Northern Samar

A policeman was tied and burned alive in a remote village in Catarman, Northern Samar over the weekend.

The victim was identified as Senior Police Officer 3 Larry Aventajado, assigned with the Catarman Police Station.

His charred body was found in Barangay Imelda on Saturday. Police said Aventajado was tied and the killer poured gasoline on him.

The 65-year-old mother of the policemen positively identified him through a tattoo on one of his feet.

Police have yet to determine the motive for Aventajado's gruesome killing.

Local police said Aventajado was found in an area where eight policemen and a village official were killed in an ambush staged by suspected members of the New People's Army. —report from Byron Alcoba/ALG, GMA News
