1 dead after flashfloods hit Cebu City — report
A 67-year-old male resident of Sitio Ranay, Barangay Pit-os in Cebu City reportedly died after he was carried away by flashfloods that hit the area, Nagiel Bañacia, Cebu City Disaster Council head, posted on Facebook.
The identity of the fatality was not disclosed.
Based on information provided by the Department of Social Welfare Services (DSWS), there are 102 families affected in Barangay Bacayan, 27 families in Barangay Pit-os, and 28 families in Barangay Sirao.
The DSWS and the Quick Response Team - Disaster Management Office will be providing the families with disaster kits and relief goods.
There are at least 68 families evacuated to the Sirao elementary school after a portion of the mountain collapsed rendering the road unpassable.
As of 8:20 p.m., an additional 26 families are now in Pungol Sibugay gym and most of them are residents of Sitio Kan-irag.
Bañacia said the landslide area is still very dangerous and is still moving, according to geologist Clark Cebrian who inspected the site of the landslide. — BAP, GMA News
