P1.2-B drainage system to solve CDO flooding woes

Drainage system projects worth about P1.2 billion will address the problem of urban flooding in Cagayan de Oro City, said the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)Region X  spokesperson.

Vinah Maghinay, DPWH 10 spokesperson, told GMA News that agency will fast track the project that is due to be completed after three years.

Cagayan de Oro City was ravaged by floodwaters brought about a Low Pressure Area and the tail of a cold front last week.

As a result, students were stranded in schools while commuters waded to waist-level floods.

Maghinay said the implementation of flood control and drainage system projects was delayed by the negotiations on securing road right of way.

She added that they are waiting for program of works before the construction can start. — BAP, GMA News
