4 hurt in 6-vehicle pileup in Rizal province
Four people were injured Saturday evening in a road mishap involving three trucks, two taxicabs, and one SUV on Ortigas Avenue Extension in Taytay, Rizal.
A GMA News report quoted Reynante Cacao, driver of a blue Elf truck, as saying that his vehicle was hit by a boom truck, which also hit a taxicab (WIT 674) around 8 p.m. in Brgy. Dolores.
Another taxi unit (UWG 890), an SUV, and a parked Elf truck were dragged into the road tangle started by the boom truck, which eventually ended up in a small cliff.
Those hurt in the the incident were identified as Ely Layuno, Sonny Bravo, and Raymund Lim. They were initially brought to the Taytay Emergency Hospital.
Lim, one of the taxi drivers, sustained a minor head injury. The other taxi driver emerged unhurt.
Cacao suffered bruises in his arms and was complaining of chest pains shortly after the incident.
He said the speeding boom truck coming from the opposite lane swerved to his direction, prompting him to veer right, but his Elf was still hit by the wayward truck.
Injured Sonny Bravo, the porter of the boom truck, was later transferred to the Rizal Medical Center in Pasig.
Investigation on the incident was ongoing as of posting time. —Joseph Tristan Roxas/LBG, GMA News
