44 hurt in ferry accident off Calapan City 

Forty-four passengers on board fastcraft OceanJet 12 were injured Tuesday following an accident off Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro, a News TV live report said Wednesday.

According to Philippine Ports Authority Port Management Office (PPA-PMO) in Oriental Mindoro, OceanJet 12 was heading to Calapan City when water started coming in due to a busted glass window that was smashed by a metal ladder.

The fastcraft, with 245 passengers, came from Batangas Port, the report said.

Meanwhile, first aid treatment was given to the victims upon reaching Calapan City Port.

According to Choy Aboboto of the Calapan City Public Safety Department, 11 passengers were brought to the hospital. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
