5 suspects posing as PDEA agents arrested in Cavite
Five men who introduce themselves as members of the Philipine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) were arrested in Cavite, GMA News' John Consulta reported on "24 Oras" Tuesday.
The same group of men turned out to be members of a kidnap for ransom group.
During the operation, the Provincial Intelligence Branch of the Cavite Provincial Police Office also recovered fake IDs, high-powered firearms and grenades from the suspects.
A victim narrated how the suspects abducted him and tied him up during their transaction for his buy and sell business in Silang, Cavite.
"Ako lang ho ang sinakay, tinali na nila ko ng packing tape, minasking tape 'yung mukha ko, nilagyan ako ng busal, wala naman po akong atraso, gaganunin po nila ko," the victim, who was not identified, said.
Meanwhile, the suspects did not deny the allegations against them.
One of the suspects claimed to be the close-in bodyguard of a mayor of one of the towns in Cavite.
Another suspect denied that he is a PDEA agent. When asked to explain his action, Christian alberto also said,"Order na 'yun eh. Order ng... galing sa taong kausap nung leader namin."
The Cavite Provincial Police will conduct further investigation on the incident.
Police Superintendent Janet Arinabo said, "Magco-conduct po ng follow-up operations ang Cavite PPO para malaman namin kung ano pa 'yung mga involvement nila sa previous crimes sa Cavite such as 'yung death under investigation, allegedly involved sila sa robbery holdap."
The suspects will face charges on kidnapping, extortion, serious physical injuries and usurpation of authority.
The police will also conduct follow up operations to identify the other members of the group. — BAP, GMA News
