The National Housing Authority (NHA) on Wednesday served the eviction notice to members of the urban poor group KADAMAY who were occupying idle government housing units in Padre Pio Village in Pandi, Bulacan.

Aside from serving the eviction notice, the NHA also put a large tarpaulin at the entrance of the village showing the copy of the notice.

Padre Pio Village is one of the government housing sites in Pandi town that were occupied by KADAMAY members. The group also occupied Villa Elise, Pandi Residences 3, Pandi Village 2, and Pandi Atlantica, among others.

Under the eviction notice, KADAMAY members have seven days to vacate the premises peacefully.

Some KADAMAY members have barricaded the entrace of the villages to prevent the NHA from serving the notice.

The housing units in Pandi were intended for informal settlers in Metro Manila who reside in flood-prone areas and low-salaried uniformed personnel. —Joseph Tristan Roxas/KBK, GMA News
