Woman busted for smuggling P760k worth of shabu into Tacloban jail
Combined elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) nabbed a female jail visitor who attempted to smuggle shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) inside the Tacloban City Jail.
Identified as Ronilyn Daroy, the Tacloban City resident was found with a large transparent sachet containing suspected shabu, after being subjected to a routine inspection at the BJMP Tacloban City Jail-Male Dorm on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities, in a statement on Saturday, said the sachet weighed at least 95 grams and had an estimated street value of P760,000.
Daroy was supposed to visit Leo Absalon, an inmate detained over drug charges.
She will be charged for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — Rie Takumi/MDM, GMA News
